May 23, 2012 - 2 Hours

Today, I talked with technology facilitator about the school budget planning . According to her, each school has a different budget plan about technology. Alter High School I went for my internship divides its technology budget to seven different categories. These are:

Hardware Administration: It is about keyboard, monitor etc. Each five year, all computers should be changed in the school. But some computers that are used for digital art class should be changed in each three years because in this class, memory of computers is used more than other classes.
Software Administration: It is about purchasing Microsoft Office Programs or something like that.
Technology Supplies Administration: It is about purchasing new outlets, new cables, and something like that.
Hardware Instructional: It is about directions or tutorials on PowerPoint, DVD, and CD for teachers that explain how to use this hardware.
Software Instructional: It is about directions or tutorials on PowerPoint, DVD, and CD for teachers that explain how to use this software.
Technology Supplies Instructional: It is about extra technology staff like sprays to clean monitor, or vacuum cleaner to clean projectors’ filters.
Other Support Technology: It is about hiring technology people to get help to install some technology system like installing network system throughout the school.

May 16, 2012

I had a group project study which will be counted as a mid term exam. I got an allowence from technology facilitator about that. So I could not go to the school today.

May 9, 2012- 4 Hours

Today, I went to the school library to review technologies of library. There is a new online catalog system named Destiny installed by Jeff. Each student has an account to log in there. They can access with their smartphones, too. There are some pictures about this software below:

May 2, 2012- 4 Hours

Today Beth gave me the papers including answers for my active research as seems below:

I tried to analyze the results.

The other thing I did today was the observation Jeff's working. He created image by using network instead of using CD or DVD. Using network to create image is really easy when compared with creation with CD or DVD. Thanks to using network, in seconds, 50 computers can be created image. It is amazing!

April 25, 2012- 3 Hours

On this date there was Mass at UD all school attended. Even though Beth stayed at school on that date, I could not go to the School because I had an pain in my right ear making a big headache.

April 18, 2012- 3 Hours

At this week, I prepared my questions with technology coordinator, Beth, for the active research as seems below:
To prepare these questions I searched some articles and journals about my topic. Then, Beth spreaded my questions to the teachers. Thank you Beth!

TF-II. Planning and Designing Learning Environments and Experiences:

Educational technology facilitators plan, design, and model effective learning environments and multiple experiences supported by technology.

3-A.    Assist teachers as they use technology resources and strategies to support the diverse needs of learners including adaptive and assistive technologies.

Today, one of teachers needed to have a projector. So we checked a projector if it works or not in the Jeff's office. First we chose a projector among others.

Then, we checked its light is OK first as seen below:

But it did not work. The Jeff checked its filter. It was in need of cleanning as you see it below.

Jeff cleaned it up with a vacuum cleaner as it is seen on the below. Then it worked very well. We took this projector to the teacher's classroom.

Today was the year book day for senior students in Alter. They took picture club by club for the year book in the GYM saloon. To do that, responsible people used some technologies. To announce what is the next club to take a picture in the GYM center, a lady used a mic to announce all school. Another lady used Walki-Talki to control what is going on in GYM center and the next club taken picture is done or not by connecting another responsible person in GYM center:

TF-VII: Procedures, Policies, Planning, and Budgeting for Technology Environments:

A-7: Use network software packages to operate a computer network system:
Today was the first day of second quarter for my internship. So I talked with the technology coordinator about my active reseach and some logs that I did not do anything yet. I have decided to create an active reseach about "Which factors impact high school teachers’ performance in integrating technology-mediated learning environments to existing learning environments?”. To search that, I will prepare a questionnaire including some rationale and scale. Then, we went to the 'server room'. This room includes, fire alarm system, servers, old electronic staff, school telephone system, all wireless system, wireless system controller, back up CD roms, storages, and video recording system throught camrea system throughout the school.

Then, I went to the Jeff's office. He showed me the camera system throughout the school which is supported by a software named mRemote. The camreas can be turn yo left or right or make it zoom by this software:

Today also a student came up to technology coordinator's office. Student asked her to unblock DyKnow because his teachers left DyKnow as blocked.

TF-V. Productivity and Professional Practice:
D-1:Model the use of telecommunications tools and resources for information sharing, remote information access, and multimedia/hypermedia publishing in order to nurture student learning.

We talked about tappedin.org. It is an online sharing information platform for teachers or other educators. The link is http://tappedin.org/tappedin/ .

It is so cool because giving/receiving information/experience by meeting on a particular date and time provides a lot of things to all teachers. For instance, in my first experience I just chose an online  meeting named Write Talk. During the meeting online, I got some new thing . The educators there talked about a new project named National Writing Project, http://www.nwp.org/.

This website includes a huge collection and resources fro educators. For instance, http://digitalis.nwp.org/ link includes a diversity of educational technology news and information like netiquette.
On the link http://www.nwp.org/., there is a map on the right top hand. When we click on it, we can fing the closest NWP site to us. Moreover, thanks to this, we can know the events or camps for students, including registration dates and events dates.
In summary, by participating a telecommunication tool like tappedin, we can know the new things from the community of education professionals.

March 2, 2012

There was no school on this date.

February 24, 2012- 2 Hours

TF-IV. Assesment and Evulation
B-1: Guide teachers as they use technology resources to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and communicate findings to improve instructional practice and maximize student learning.
Today I gave a presentation to teachers about VoiceThread by using projector, speakers and my notebook at the school's library.

I introduced it as an educational tool. I gave some examples done by me.

For my presentation, I used Prezi and teachers like it, as well. My presentation link is http://prezi.com/kukgjqjakrzc/voicethread-in-education/.

February 17, 2012- 4 Hours

TF-II Planning and Designing Learning Environments and Experiences:
D1: Provide teachers with options for management of technology resources with the context of  learning activities.
Today I reviewed a presentation about "Managing Technology in our Daily Lives" prepared by the technology coordinator of the Alter. . Some key notes about this presentation are below:

This presentation was for students but it has some significant messages for teachers, as well. We talked about a website, http://whatsyourstory.trendmicro.com/internet-safety/Home.do. It includes some short and effective videos about why we should be careful on internet. These 1 or 2 minutes videos are much more effective on people than any other long presentation or a lot of warning about identity and privacy management online.

February 10, 2012- 4 Hours

TF-II.Planning and Designing Learning Environments and Experiences:
F-1:Assist teahers as the identify and apply instructional design principals associated with the development of technology resources.
Today one of the teacher had a problem about using DyNow. Her panel did not show up. She asked us for help.
After fixing her problem, I watched some tutorial videos from the website http://www.dyknow.com/
This software provides fast feedbacks, collobration, digital notebook, block application, reviewed saved classes and more.

DyKnow is a really good educational sofware because it supports to engagement istead of wasting time with monitoring students' computers by their teachers.. The things what we do with DyKnow are creating class time which is can be set based on semester or quarter system, and creating new netbook, more and more.

Then, I went to a class named Graphic Design with Jeff because we needed to change the bad switches at a computer lab.

At the school all students have a laptop. There is an accidental policy about these laptops. If students broke the screen of these laptops, it is OK for once and they can get one free. But if it could happen again, they have to pay for that.
At the end of senior year, they can keep their laptops but they need to pay a fee.
Jeff was increasing the space of library server by establishing a new library catholog system with a software named Destinity. Jeff mentioned about a monthly meeting which responsible people from 20 high schools gare getting together about IT. We also talked about the article on 1:1 consortium. A picture from the article:

February 3, 2012- 7 Hours

TF-IV Assesment and Evaluation: Apply multiple methods of evaluation to determine students' appropriate use of technology resourcess for learning, communication, and productivity.
C-1. Assist teachers in using recommended evaluation strategies for improving students' use of technology resources for learning, communication, and productivity.
We watched some videos from the website http://www.isafe.org/  and http://www.netsmartz.org/. Information and videos from these 2 websites give important information by a difficult way which is animated videos. To reach some links on the website isafe.org is not for free. But netsmatrz.org is free. Knowing these webites is important in terms of providing information to teachers and students about internet safe as an educator.
Then we talked about some workshops to professionals. We reviewed some conference and workshops guide like below:
C-2: Examine and apply the results of a research project that includes evaluating the use of a specific technology in a PK-12 environment.

I prepared a questionnaire includes these question as seem below:
I gave this questionnaire to 3 junior students.
Then, I observed Multimedia Class and Persanol Financial Class.

In Multimedia class students was designing their own company's advertisement paper, identity card and other things like that for their own company by using MS Publisher. Some of their works below:
In Personal Financial Class, teacher make students watch some videos from a DVD about foundation of personal finance.
This video had some sub parts. After each part, they tried to find the answers aand fill the blanks on their booklet related to this video's topics.

To give some details about the video, there was some titles like " Understanding how money impacts the relationships" and " Reasons of divorce".
