TF-II Planning and Designing Learning Environments and Experiences:
Today I went to the school library. I reviewed the technologies used in the library like projectors and PCs.

I asked some questions to the school librarian about technologies they use to search. She said that they use a cathalog software to find books. She also said " But all books at the school will be on web soon.

I also asked her thoughts about libraries' future. She said all libraries at schools and instutions are turning to digital libraries by Google.
Except these, she recommended the Gale to search books, articles and the journals as a best tool. She said she and students at the school use this program on their cell phones.

Alter High School prepared a technology plan including the date between June 30, 2011 and June 30, 2012. In this plan there is a committe including Principal, Technology Coordinator, IT Senior Consultant, Campus Ministry, Network Administrator, and some teachers.

Some of activities in this plan are providing ongoing education in safe, responsibility of internet use to students, and encouraging appropriate use of social media on a school wide basis, and providing updates on current school activities ans news to the alter community and beyond.

January 13, 2012- 7 Hours

TF-I. Technology Operations and Concepts: A-2:
Today, I learned the importance of informing teachers about emerging technologies and some websites they can use into their classes like turnitin. It is a website providing to monitoring students' assignments about plagurism. But teachers need a licence,password, from the school to use it because it is not free. It is not just for monitoring plagurism. It also includes some free online learning videos. To reach other free online learning website, Beth advised me the website named lynda. It is like atomic learning website. We talked this topic because a teacher came to her office to asked an atomic learning website to upgrade of her atomic learning on graphics.

As for another technology resource used in education world, we talked about Edutopia. Then we view on screen. It is a great educational resource for all teachers. It includes videos, contends for different grades, some core strategies to make teachers developed, and much more!
She also said that she is following websites named thejournal and eSchoolnews to find more resource in order to inform teachers about them.

We reviewed a video on youtube about how to use photoshop as a tutorial video for teachers. Then, we viewed a video including a different teaching style used by a phycial education teacher. He is talking about healthy by in a rap music ryhtm. Here is the link.

Technology is used for not only teaching but also communication to inform parents. For instance, there is a monthly newsletter prepared by director of communication at Alter.

Today Beth  also showed me recording how many and why people came up to her office to get help. She needs to record this information. It is called creating ticket on the alter website in a tab named Help Desk. Creating tickets is important because it provides a good knowledge about how many computer is in needed to fix or how many computer is fixed soon by tech team.

Lastly, a student came to her office to find a solution in order to save her work on her laptop. Her laptop was frozen and she did a MS office word working in her class. Beth used DyKnow to save and print out her working because her laptop waws still frozen after our tryings. DyKnow is that is a classroom management and interactive learning software. January 6, 2012- 7 Hours

INTRODUCTION OF TECHNOLOGY OF ALTER:

 Today I met with Beth Budd, who is Technology Coordinator for Alter High School, to discuss my internship’ days and activities at Alter. It was the first day of my internship. She informed me about the log which is in Graduate Internship Manual. She asked me if I would like to do as activities. Because I thought I should do activities planned by her, I did not have any plan today. So, next week, I will bring some activities that I would like to learn and that will meet Educational Technology Academic Content Standards. Then we will combine my activities and hers. Firstly, she introduced me the technology of Alter.

Firsly, we reviewed some rooms of Alter having projectors and whiteboards such as study hall and gym. Then, we reviewed the black box providing all support of technology such as mic, speaker, controlling the projector, playing video, screen transforming and other a lot of things in the study hall.

Another introducing activitiy of the Alter's technology was going to IT Help Desk and Operations Office and meeting Jeff, who is a member of tech team.

I reviewed the Jeff's working. He was doing installation of the new library online system.

-Then, we went to take a look at wireless boxes at Alter. There are 51 wireless boxes there. So the connection speed of internet is so strong.

-Beth had the new additionally outlets in her office. Because using of outlet stripts is not safe, new plugs are put in her office.

- Because of this new outlets, her desktop PC was unsettled. So I set her computer.

-We reviewed the Website of Alter High School to update information about student's usernames by using Learning Management System named Black Board.
- We talked about a program named Ren Web that teachers use it such as entering of their students' grades.
-Talking about a tab on the website named ‘Parent Web’. We created a username and a password for one of the parents. Then this parent was informed about that by Beth.
-Beth showed me how to enter students’ behaviors, grades and absences on Ren Web. All information about all students are there by categorizing of their grades like sophomore, senior.
-I got some information about students' laptop. ( every junior student have alptop provided the school). These laptops are Fujitsu. At the end of the school year, they have to return their laptop.
- I tied to find a solution for a student's laptop. His laptop's was frozen. It could not open by keeping to show just windows logo. After a couple trying to solve this problem, it could not be open. I got it to give Jeff. He gave a Loan laptop temporarily to student until his laptop will be fixed.
-Some students came up to Beth's office. They are in Technology Club which is not so active.
-I watched the Beth's working about preparing a form that shows the internet access provider's rate in Ohio. After printing out it, Beth went to show it to principal.
-We talked about some windows tools such as extending the screen to 2 separate screen.( You can find some information about that on microsoft supporting website)We also talked about Snipping Tool. ( There is a link including a video here that you can figure out about how to use it)  It provide to capture the screen like ‘prt sc’, but it also allows to cut where ever you want of this screen you captured. It is with only Windows 7, not before versions of Windows.
-Then we talked about ‘Moodle’ that I also use for my class named Issues & Implications of Telecom in the Ed Environment. Moodle provides to all schools to extend teachers' using technology for their classes.
- Then we talked about differences between Macs and PCs and IT people's tasks in companies.

Except these, she introduced me to other teachers and staffs. For instance, I met with a teacher who teaches business. She teaches multimedia classes like movie maker in this class:
